Dubai, May 23: In a latest development regarding direct flight from Dubai to Mangalore, Daijiworld.com has reliably learnt that the much-awaited flight Air India Express has delayed its direct flight due to operational reasons, until further notice.
At the same time, in an interesting development, APA Air System FZC, a UAE-based company has announced its first-ever tourism flight to Mangalore from May 26, 2006 subject to final clearance from Customs authority in Mangalore
Pervez Ansari, general manager APR Air, while speaking exclusively to Daijiworld.com's Rajesh Sequeira, who is also Karnataka NRI Forum co-ordinator, said that APA has initially planned its tourism operations to Bangalore, but since Bangalore was getting congested with every passing day and hearing the good news of International status to Mangalore airport, "we have decided to switch the service to Mangalore, a cool and wonderful place for tourism."

"We are ready to start on May 26. The basic concept is to promote tourism and Mangalore is preferred because we are planning to promote the surrounding places like Kerala and Goa. And all land arrangements in India are done by ITDC.

The APA Charter flight may not be a substitute for passenger flight, but this will create a landmark when it lands at Mangalore airport. It will be the first official aircraft to land from abroad.

K A Abdul Majeed, general manager of Nasser Travel says that the Indian expatriates here in UAE should be happy, as many of them not yet enjoyed there own tourist destinations, and we are there to do it for them on a very economical rate. This concept is the first time in India and Mangalore is the first destination to start such a service.
APA air will operate the service twice weekly to Mangalore from Sharjah, that is, Tuesday and Friday, departing at 0100 local time and reaching Mangalore 0600 IST.
He also said: "Not just Foreigners, but all NRIs can take advantage of this facility by going to India and conquering different places within our country. India has lots of tourist spots and we are there to cater their needs. A tourist who visits India has to stay for a minimum of one week and maximum of 4 weeks.
