Udupi: Lady teacher goes missing after leaving behind letter

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Jul 29: A lady teacher who left her home here to attend her school at Shankarpura has gone missing. In a complaint filed in Kaup police station, her husband, Harish Acharya, said that his wife has not been traceable.

The teacher who went missing under mysterious circumstances happens to be Veena Acharya (27), a teacher of St John's School at Shankarpura. Before going away, she left behind a letter on Friday July 27. She went to school by the Kinetic scooter she regularly used on Friday, but abandoned the scooter in the school premises.

Veena, whose height is 5'5", has wheatish complexion, and who can converse in Tulu, Kannada, English, Konkani and Hindi, has a mark on the left side of her neck.

Reportedly, Veena was depressed by the thought of not being able to conceive even after ten years of marriage. In the letter she left at her home, she said that people close to her would have faced problems because of her action. "I am leaving my home on the day of lunar eclipse. I request you not to make any effort to trace me. No one should have tension because of my action," she stated in the letter, the police said.

Nothing to get scared about society. Many don't have issues in their lifetime. They have led their life peacefully. You can do charity and gain all the mileages in life. Some courage is needed for it. By your present decision, your husband too is desperate and put many other members of your family in distress. You don't mind people talking you for your inability to conceive. You and your husband can still lead a life. Hoping you to join your husband soon. Lord bless you.

Do you know what lady teacher Veena Acharya has gone through her life. Might be she was longing for a helping hand, support from her own group. But nobody might have given that support except, might be mental torture. So she has decided to leave the place. Easy to preach, but when similar situation happens to individual, then, most of them, just collapse.
Hope she will return safely to her home.

Veena, First you detach from your mind that feeling guilty yourself for not bearing child, That's what Indian culture does from centuries, You should educate them and show them life is beautiful even without children Secondly, you can't take blame yourself for not bearing child, Your husband is equally responsible

Its not related to indian culture ..this is implanted by a male dominated society..its a natural behaviour and is applicable to geographic locations....but we as humans have the unique ability of discriminating judgement ..which can be used with wisdom and insight ..

    Dear Veena ,
You are educated , you must be strong and be a example to other women who are less fortunate then you are . Kindly take back this drastic step . There's always a solution. Your husband and you must vist a counsellor and also a gynecologist . Have faith in God, MIRACLES have happened ,you too shall be blessed . In the worst circumstance you always can adopt and give a new life to a orphan who is and will always be grateful to you . You are a blessing to us and everyone. Kindly think calmly and walk back .

Nawaz, you have put it right.
If the teacher and her family had understood the fact that no one is accountable and responsible, probably she would have lead a better life.

Are we all dynastic Kings like Chandraguptha Mourya or Akbar to mandatorily have children to carry forward our legacy?
Live life fully, even without children. Have children only if you can afford one (without compromising on your lavish life style).
Or else, the children will come in news for petty thefts, or joining KFDs and Dals!!!

    @Ivar,

What about having more children, and teaching good characters to them so that they are blessings to the parents and assets to the society.
    Good investment right?
Can compromise on lavish life style for such a good investment.

We forget all our tensions by just seeing our innocent and cute child coming running towards us when we reach our house after hectic work schedule.

"Have children only if you can afford one (without compromising on your lavish life style)."

Only the super rich can have LAVISH LIFE STYLE........ So now you are taking away the rights of having children from the poor and the middle class?

Veena Acharya, teacher, 27 years is a grown up adult woman. She might have left home, just to be far away from the pressure, insults what she might have received from her/her hunband's home. Some times better to be far away,; she may be looking for a holiday , this requirement may not have been addressed by her husband.

    Hope she will return soon.

    Depression is a silent attacker.
Final levels of depression are difficult to control.
One starts thinking differently and even will imagine known people around him or her as some others.
My sincere prayers for her safe return and speedy recovery.
Only selfless care by the dear ones can put her back on track.

Need proper investigation about the authenticity of the letter.
There is a possibility that someone affected by her infertility might have written that letter to divert the attention from the main cause of her disappearance.

    Sunny,
You are right. I would also add there are so many unmarried girls who wished to be married but never had a chance, and they lead a normal life. So, the teacher should not feel that desperate. As a last resort, she can try in vitro fertility with her husband as partner. But they both need to get away from family pressure
