Kaup: Ganja sale, consumption - Five held from residential complex

Kaup, Aug 31: Reports said that five persons were arrested by the police from a residential complex at Padubidri on the allegation of getting involved with ganja consumption as well as sale.

The arrested persons are Muhammed Bilal Mecoy (20) from Nadsal village near here, Abhiav Surendran (21), resident of Payyannur in Kannur district, Pravesh P Shetty (22) from Casba village, Kundapour taluk, Shasil Ahmed (23) from Pullur Periya village in Kasargod and Al Jasim C K (22) from Thirangadi, Thirur village, Malappuram district.

The police raided a room in the courtyard residential complex in Padubidri, based on reliable information about illegal activity. Out of the five, some had come to sell ganja while the others were smoking the drug, the police said. 320 grams of ganja worth about Rs 16,000 and mobile phones were confiscated from them.

A case has been registered against the arrested men in Paudbidri police station.
