Mangaluru: District in-charge minister inspects progress of DC office construction

Mangaluru, Feb 11: Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister V Sunil Kumar inspected ongoing works at the new deputy commissioner’s office complex, construction of which is in progress at Padil. The complex should have been ready by now, but for the problems created by the floods followed by the onset of Covid pandemic.

The ground floor plus three-storied complex covering 2.26 lac square feet of space that is proposed here is coming up in 5.8 acres of land. Once completed, it will house 38 departments besides the offices of the MLAs and the MP. The original estimate of the building was Rs 41 crore but the revised estimate is over Rs 55 crore.

The minister was accompanied by deputy commissioner Dr Rajendra K V, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, and others during the visit.

    Surprise to see Nalin MP is studying Engineering blue print comparing with Pumpwell and Padil - railway underpass ?????? Hope he knows where is Elevation, side view and top plan sketches with isometric details with sections.

    55 Crores for a 2.26 lakh sq ft DC Office. Which means construction cost is approximately 2500 per square feet. Remember, this is an office unlike apartments where no high end materials will be used. 55 crores. Wow! Golmaal hai bhai..Sab golmaal hai.

    Good move by Minister and MP. DC complex construction commence on 2016 but sluggish construction progress should not waste tax payers valuable money . I request minister should support to complete this complex shorty by arranging necessary fund and resources from the government imminent .

    The biggest question here is will they even spend at least 50% of sanctioned amount on the actual construction??? I don't have to elaborate, our general public is intelligent and know the answer.

    Swindling of tax payers money more than half of the building will be empty. The Lokayukta office should be in the same premises not in Urwa. This DC office is a haven of swindlers.

    Mangaluru: District in-charge minister inspects progress of DC office construction. The district in-charge minister realized that he is not given the full bribe amount. Also, he instructed the authority not to make any payment till they pay the bribe immediately.
