Udupi, Feb 11: The second additional chief judicial (ACJ) magistrate's court which heard a case against a driver, sentenced him to 18 months of simple imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 8,000.
In the said incident, a private bus (AKMS) driven by Parameshwarappa H G, Kenchanakere, had rammed his bus against a motorbike four year ago. The accident, which took place near Bhavya petrol bunk Padubidri, had caused the death of bike rider, Avinash Devadiga.
The driver was accused of driving the bus at excessive speed recklessly, and hitting the bike rider who was moving towards Mangaluru in the same road. Bike rider Avinash Devadiga had fallen down to the road and suffered serious injuries to his head. He had died without responding to treatments.
A case in this connection was registered in Padubidri police station. The then Kaup police circle inspector Halaurthy Rao, had investigated this case and filed the final report in the second ACJ and Junior Magistrate First Class court here. Judge of the court, Mahantesh G Bhoosagola who heard the case, pronounced the quantum of punishment. Assistant public prosecutor Jagadish Hali, had presented the case on behalf of the prosecution.
