Kadaba, Feb 12: The Kadaba police station personnel, on Friday February 11 morning, took into custody a person who was found staying with a widow who belongs to another faith. The police were informed about the incident by some activists of certain Hindu organizations.
The widow in question, who is a Hindu, lives in Kottary in Kodimbala village within Kadaba police station limits. It is said that the man had stayed in the widow's residence several times in the past. The Hindu activists, who got information that he was trying to convince the woman to get converted by offering lures, had visited the house and tried to convince the concerned. However, the man continued to visit the widow and stay at her house at night. Literature concerning Christianity in the woman's residence, garlands with the cross in the necks of the widow's children, etc dropped enough hints about the things to come. The Hindu activists who came to know that the man again came here and stayed on Thursday night with the woman, informed the police.

The woman was a victim of acid attack which happened a year back at Kodimbala. It is alleged that her helplessness is being used to convert her. She was attacked with acid by her own brother-in-law relating to a land dispute. She had recovered after undergoing hospitalization. The court had released the elder brother of her husband who attacked her with acid, on bail. The woman had approached the high court seeking cancellation of bail which was upheld by the court and the accused was jailed again.
Kadaba police station assistant sub-inspector had been suspended for dereliction of duty in the above case. The woman was undergoing depression because of these developments. She lives with her two daughters. The organizations claim that an effort to convert her is being made by taking advantage of the unfortunate situation in which she finds herself.
