Bengaluru: Reopening of colleges after gauging situation on Monday - CM

Bengaluru, Feb 13: Chief minister (CM) Basavaraj Bommai said that the decision of reopening PU and degree colleges will be taken after observing the developments on February 14.

Speaking to the media, Bommai said, “We will take suitable decision based on the prevailing situation. We are also concerned about the education of students.

“The Supreme Court has passed an order with regards to re-inspection of reservation in taluk panchayat and zilla panchayat elections. Hence, the same will be discussed with Advocate General,” he said.

It may be recalled, the Higher Education department on Friday had said that the colleges will remain closed till February 16 even as the examinations will be held as scheduled. The closure of all Universities belonging to the Department of higher education and colleges under the Department of Collegiate and Technical Education (DCTE) and government, aided and unaided pre-university colleges coming under the purview of the Primary and Secondary Department, has been extended till February 16.

    Reopen college with immediate effect with a no-nonsense approach and take stringent action against anyone flouting rules. Advaniji did it when he was home minister and followed rule of law by words and spirit. Who are you appeasing Bommaiji? Police should do their job and ensure that kids get education...that's it.

    These people are playing with students academics . Cant the government leave it to the PUC , 11th & 12th & colleges to manage . There are plenty of schools and colleges who can manage by having classes . Public need to demand better service from the public servents , who need to be accountable.

    Govt should close the school and colleges till February end as covid cases are more in schools and colleges clusters...Also put police in each classroom to monitor whether students follow covid protocols or not..

    Mr.Tester . You need to be tested. Here the issue is not Covid. It si Hijab & saffron, Because of some bad elements, students are suffering. Police should monitor this issue, not the covid.Covid is finished.. None of the Ministers are wearing Mask . Police should monitor them.
