Hubballi, Feb 13: Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai has warned of strict action against those who fuelling the Hijab issue further.
Addressing the media, he said, “We are going to reopen the high schools from February 14. I have already informed the DCs, DDPIs and administrative committees of schools to hold peace meetings. All classes will go on peacefully. Colleges will begin later with improvement in situation.
“Our first priority is to recreate harmony in schools and colleges. Our officers are also monitoring social media to track those uploading inciting posts.
“In the upcoming budget, I will try to boost the financial situation of the state, which has taken a beating in the last two and a half years. Due to Covid we have lost a lot of revenue. I will try to improve the the condition of state treasury, and bring about discipline in economy. The poor in the lower strata of soci0-economic structure and daily wagers will get more priority in budget," he assured.
“There will not be any discrimination between BBMP and other corporations. We have not neglected any other corporations. Financial assistance is given to KSRTC, NEKRTC and NWKRTC also,”, Bommai added.
As this was the first visit of Bommai to Hubbali after Covid there was heavy rush of people to greet him as well as to submit their petitions. There was a long queue of people outside his residence at Adarsh Nagar right from the morning. Bommai collected the appeals from the crowd and later went to Haveri.
