Bantwal: Honey bees swarm passersby - Nine persons severely injured

Bantwal, Feb 27: In an incident reported from Kalabagilur of the taluk, nine people were seriously injured when a swarm of honey bees bit them.

Gangaiah Gowda (60), Sheena Shetty (48), Aithappa Shetty (76), Arun Shetty (34), Lalitha (49) and four have been admitted to a hospital with grievous injuries.

The honey bees attacked them when they were on their way for a meeting of Sri Dharmasthala Rural Development Scheme members that was to be held at Kalabagilu. The honey bees got wild when an eagle crashed their comb and the dispersed swarm started attacking the passersby.

All the injured are admitted in the government hospital of Bantwal and said to be out of danger.
